I no longer have any of that software installed.I went to that page, but the only Lightroom 6 installer installed version 6.14 on my computer, and when I selected Updates from that installation, it said I was up to date. All the operating system versions that software was released for reached end of life years ago and there are undoubtedly unresolved security vulnerabilities in these old OSes and applications. That will finally write off software licences that cost me thousands (including Creative Suite 6 Master Collection), but the changes in hardware and operating systems over time means that I fully depreciated and wrote off those licences years ago. However, the download EoL date and Adobe moving all their products to subscription suggests there will be a point at which they drop activation support for all legacy outright purchase licences. My hope is that Adobe will maintain activation support for a while yet. I have no desire to see people with licences who are happy with this version be unable to activate. I hope reactivation of Lightroom 6 will remain possible after the download EoL date. I have non-Adobe software licences that are now impossible to activate as the activation server is offline (in one case, the developer went out of business). I am just being realistic in the light of what has happened previously and pointing out the lowest cost way forward for those wanting a subscription for Lightroom Classic.Īdobe has decommissioned the activation servers for older versions of their products in the past. The huge improvements in what are now seven major versions that are subscription only is worth the ongoing cost of a subscription to me. Changing my cameras and lenses would have made it awkward to stick with Lightroom 6 (I would have had to convert all my files to DNG and cope without lens profiles). Though Adobe does not make it that easy to find, the 20GB Photography Plan is a relatively inexpensive way of getting the latest versions of Lightroom Classic Lightroom, Photoshop, Camera Raw and Bridge, albeit with a small cloud quota. Face recognition also works in the subscription version but tends not to work in Lightroom 6. The map module in the subscription Lightroom Classic works, whereas this is permanently broken in Lightroom 6 because of API changes since Lightroom 6 was released. None of my current cameras and lenses are directly supported by Lightroom 6. Lightroom Classic 13 has many improvements since Lightroom Classic 6 that have dramatically changed my workflow, especially the mask based selective processing, AI masking, AI denoise and the new selective colour tool. Adobe has dropped the Lightroom CC name - the subscription versions are now Lightroom Classic and Lightroom (the latter is the cloud version). I stuck to Lightroom 4 for a long time, but eventually went to subscription. There is a chance that Adobe will decommission the activation servers after the download EoL date, making it impossible to activate Lightroom 6 on new hardware even if you have a legitimate serial number. Having the download is only part of the equation. Please direct non-lightroom topics to the most appropriate of the following!
